REGINAL COOKSTOVE TESTING AND KNOWLEDGE CENTRE (RTKC)

CSIR-IIR has a complete set-up of the Laboratory Emission Measurement System (LEMS) for testing cook stoves. The centre envisions to addressing challenges in cook stoves efficiency and emission within the African sub region and beyond.

The set-up supports testing of stoves, Water Boiling Test (WBT), Controlling Cooking Test (CCT), Kitchen Performance Test (KPT) etc. Results collected from the LMES set-up with respect to emission are the measurement that comes in the form of Carbon Monoxide (CO), Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Particulate Matter (PM) emitted `32 content during cooking.
Results obtained for stove tested could be used to grade them in terms of tiers, as stipulate by the International Workshop Agreement (IWA). The Centre offers the following tests:

  • Thermal Efficiency of stoves
  • Cookstove Emission
  • Fuel Testing
